Thanks for the nice testimony Sophia-
“In January I made a remarkable discovery when I stumbled upon Impact MMA Fitness in Austin. They teach and train people in MMA (Mixed Martial Arts) there and I keep hearing people talking and raving about this new South Austin gym.
I’ve set out on maybe a dozen types of workouts, and in several Austin gyms in my lifetime, but I have to admit this thing – Impact MMA, is by far the most challenging, grueling, and satisfying way I’ve found to get my body in the kind of shape I have wanted, and it happened quickly. That’s in no time. No Joke. This place and their workout called “Muay Thai Fitness Kickboxing,” can be as serious as it gets.
To be clear, this isn’t the prissy 24 Hour Fitness air punch cardio kickboxing Tae Bo class you bring your mother to. Impact is all about heavy sweat-inducing, adrenaline – stimulating, kick your butt into shape strength and conditioning.
And this also is one heck of an endurance workout.
But the trainers won’t take you any farther than what you feel is right for you at the moment. Thank goodness!
It is also a friendly place. There’s no macho stuff going on, no posing, and it’s very clean and comfortable in there. During classes, they keep you too busy to bother with anything other than making it to the next round. And then 30 minutes pass by and . . . . you’re done for the day! Or after that, it’s open gym – you can choose to workout more if you feel the need. They have TRX Body Weight Suspension, Kettlebells, Medicine ball training, and these torturous machines called Ultimate Strikers. After about 2 minutes on those, you are toast.
It is located right off Mopac, convenient to all of South Austin. In fact Impact is located within about a rock throw distance from other South Austin Gyms – Lifetime Fitness, Golds Gym, and 24 Hour Fitness. But this South Austin gym is packing them in. It seems a growing number are finding out about this place like I did. One of the members told me that Heather, of the KASE 101 morning show, was working out there.
I have to admit that I wrote this because one of the trainers (Sheryl) gave me the idea. I was ecstatic after a particularly grueling session and was saying all the above to her after class, when she suggested that I “tell your friends,” so I am one upping that by writing this on Yelp!
If you’re in search of a fitness exercise and gym you can get really excited about, this is the place.”
